In our family's language, bahoo is the daughter-in-law — the new bride who joins a house. And there is an old custom in our homes: the day she arrives, the family clears the best seat in the majlis for her. Not the newest thing in the room. The best place. The one that says: you belong here now.

That single idea is the whole company. We do not sell furniture. We build the seat a family clears for the person they love.

Bahoo started in 2018 with one rented corner of a workshop in Ajman Industrial Area, two craftsmen, a second-hand staple gun and a sewing machine that belonged to my uncle. Our first order was a simple three-seater for a family in Al Nahda who had spent a month visiting showrooms and coming home with nothing — because everything on the floor was either too expensive or the wrong size for their wall.

We measured their living room, built the frame in nine days and delivered it ourselves. When we set it down, the mother of the house sat on it, went quiet for a moment, and then said the sentence that became our quality standard:

The order that taught us what we actually sell

Three months later a lady from Sharjah called and asked something unusual. Not for a new sofa — for the old one. Her late husband had bought it fourteen years earlier. The springs had gone soft, the cushions had flattened where he used to sit, and her children wanted her to throw it out and buy a new one.

She wanted it rebuilt. So we rebuilt it: new hardwood rails, re-tied suspension, re-shaped foam, fresh fabric in the same warm grey she'd always had. It cost her a fraction of a new sofa.

Three weeks later, two of her neighbours called us. Then a cousin in Dubai. Then a family in Ajman. That is when we understood the business we were really in: we keep the room where your family lives, alive. To this day, sofa repair and re-upholstery is still one of our most requested services — and we still never talk a customer out of a sofa they love.

Then the beds came, because of a mother who could not sleep

In 2021, a customer who had bought a sofa from us the year before called back with a problem we couldn't ignore. His mother had been waking up every two hours with back pain. He had bought three mattresses in four years — imported, sealed, and basically wrong for her. “You built the thing I sit on all evening,” he said. “Can you build the thing she sleeps on?”

We spent four months and a lot of money learning mattress construction properly — pocket springs, support zones, foam densities, breathable knitted covers — and then built her a mattress we could explain down to the last layer. She slept through the night in the first week.

We have never treated that casually since. A sofa holds your evenings. A mattress holds your health.
